Building Your Summer Uniform

This time of year is my favourite — I love patio nights and going to the Pinawa Channel river float (if you haven’t done this already it’s a Manitoba summertime MUST.) But hands down, my favourite part of summer is the fashion.

Pulling my summer wardrobe out of hibernation feels like rediscovering it all over again. It reignites my creativity and makes getting dressed feel fun again.

If that feeling doesn't resonate with you, we’re here to help. We've stocked the boutique with beautiful summer essentials that are both classic and fresh. They’ll help you spend less time wondering what to wear and more time enjoying the season.

Here’s a list of some pieces you can invest in now and enjoy as part of a capsule wardrobe for years to come:

The Foundation of a Summer Wardrobe: Shorts

First and foremost, denim shorts are a staple, and we carry silhouettes for every style and preference. For those looking to stay fashion-forward, the Seville High Rise Gaucho Jean is one of our most exciting new arrivals. With its longer length and striking silhouette, it makes a statement all on its own. Pair it with a kitten-heel slingback, a quality white tank, and your favourite mini bag for an effortlessly cool outfit that keeps you comfortable and stylish on warm summer nights.

For sunny days out, add a pair of lightweight linen shorts to your rotation, and keep a comfortable athletic or terry short on hand for laid-back weekends at the lake, travel days, and everyday errands.

Every Day Tops

The secret to a capsule wardrobe is having tops you can reach for again and again. Neutral colours are always a great starting point, but don't be afraid to add a few shades that make you feel like summer. Here are some we’re loving:

Dresses You Can Throw On and Go

Every capsule wardrobe needs at least one easy dress. Look for styles that can be worn casually with sandals during the day or dressed up with accessories for dinner. The easier it is to style, the more wear you'll get out of it. Just about any dress from the new Bella Dahl drop fits the criteria. Check out the Sleeveless A Line Dress, the Cap Sleeve Placket Dress  and the Roll Sleeve Pocket Shirt Dress.

Layering With Intention

Even in summer, layering still has its place. My favourite way to do it is with a linen button-up — perfect for those moments when you need a little extra warmth without feeling overdressed or overheated. Toss the Skyla Linen Shirt Dress over a tank, swimsuit, or sundress and you’re ready to go.

Accessories That Work Hard

A great tote, like the Los Feliz from The Sak, your favourite sunglasses from Z Supply, and an Aloha pouch to keep your SPF essentials organized instantly pulls everything together. Practical pieces become the ones you use most.

Don’t Forget Your Statement Vacation Piece

We’re obsessed with Pitusa right now. Whether you’re opting for one of their breezy jumpsuits or beautiful beach cover-ups, having one piece that travels effortlessly makes packing and dressing on the go so much easier.
